It’s official now that Android 9 will be called Android Pie. This latest version of Android mobile operating system will be rolled out to select smartphones. Android Pie shifts the focus on artificial intelligence, which will power the user experience on the OS.

Android 9 Pie is a feature-rich update, with subtle design improvements, helpful shortcuts, and a big focus on AI through adaptive settings. Google is trying to make your phone more personal, more efficient, and easier to use.

The article lists the topmost best features Android Pie brings to the operating system.

1. Digital Wellbeing

Google has taken the first step towards digital wellbeing which is often understanding more about how you interact with technology and introducing newer ways to keep you more informed and proactive.

It’s a dedicated area with dashboard that will give you an accounting of how many minutes you will spend on each app on your smartphone and also how many times you are picking up your phone and unlocking it etc.

You can also allow it to remind you of taking a break or set time limits and get alerts when you are reaching them.

Your time watched profile gives you a closer look at how much time you spend on YouTube, as well as comparisons to previous time periods.

2. Nice overview of Apps – Slices

Earlier versions of Android had recent apps will used to start horizontally, and then  Google started them stacking vertically, now it’s back to horizontal mode with some really nice improvements.

The overview screen has got the search bar along with the ability to get the list of all the apps in just one gesture.

3. Smarter Adaptive Battery

A new feature called “adaptive battery” is included with Android Pie. A smart battery is an amazing feature as it understands and deciphers the app’s functioning. This feature ensures only the apps needed are using battery and also helps use your smartphone longer between charges. The Artificial Intelligence adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the environment and user preference.

4. Improved Notification Panel

Android 9 version is updated with additional finishing touches as compared to the last few versions of Android which makes it even better.

This gives users an ability to reply to messages from the notifications area, and now there is a smart reply feature which gives you auto-generated smart replies you can choose in a single tap. This makes replying to simple messages even easier.

5. Improved Navigation

Android 9 Pie comes with a single home button in the screen, with a complete focus on navigation and user experience. This change has been made keeping in mind taller displays and higher aspect ratio. On the lines of Apple iPhone X, Android Pie gives similar swipes and gestures for navigation.
