6 people, including 2 Visitors from US, killed in a deadly Alberta crash

6 people, including 2 U.S. visitors, were killed and 2 other Americans have life-threatening injuries after a fiery collision between Jasper and Banff, Alta.

Police claimed that the apparent head-on collision occurred Tuesday evening at around 6:30 p.m., on Highway 93 near Honeymoon Lake in Jasper National Park.

Jasper RCMP say that a van travelling northbound hit a southbound vehicle, causing both to catch on fire.

Police are investigating a crash on Highway 93, south of Jasper, that killed six people and sent two others to hospital.

Killed were Louisiana resident Angela Elkins and her son-in-law, Nick Copeland of Texas. Copeland’s two-year-old son was transported to the Jasper Hospital, but was not seriously injured.

The other occupants of the van – Elkins’ husband Curtis and Copeland’s wife Sarah – were taken to hospital in what police described as “very serious condition.”
